WHEN & HOW DID YOU FIND YOUR CRAFT?
I've always been interested in sound and how it effects people's moods and can even change the atmosphere of a room. Ultimately I would say that I found my craft somewhere around the summer of 1999. I worked with Anacron on the project The AA Meeting and just kept going after that.
HOW DO YOU CREATE?
I would have to say that my overall style is comprised of all the styles of music that I listen to. Not so much genre for genre, but I like to borrow sounds and elements from each of them and see how I can possibly fit them together. It definitely does not always result in something that is usable, there can be a lot of trial and error in my approach... However I can say that the end results insure that I don't sound like anyone else but myself.
WHAT THREE THINGS ARE ESSENTIAL TO YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS?
1) I need movies... because a lot of the time I am thinking of movie scenes that trigger me to score them differently than how they were originally written.
2) I need to get out into the world for more inspiration. Because without it, I tend not to put myself fully into the project that I am working on... and to my ears will sound without life and movement.
3) I am in need of a good book. It frees my mind from overthinking chords and other elements of any song I am working on.
