This year in ISM 2 I am studying cybersecurity. In these past weeks, I have learned more about what cybersecurity is, and I am beginning the process of conducting interviews.
I worked on my introduction speech, updated my Linkedin portfolio, and created my digital portfolio. I also started the process of conducting research on my topic. Previously, I learned about the basics of cybersecurity by learning about Amazon Web Services (AWS). Through this, I learned about the shared responsibility model for security in the cloud and the types and functions of services. By completing my research assessment this week, I also learned about the fundamentals of cybersecurity like a cyber resilience plan. Through my research, I read about the importance of forming a plan and how critical it is to communicate that plan across all departments in a company. I gained knowledge on the skills cybersecurity professionals need which include being curious, detailed, and collaborative.
I was fascinated by the fact that my research met my interests with how cybersecurity requires a technical and business mindset. I am also working on reaching out to professionals to start the interview process. Over the summer, I had phone interviews with two professionals, but I am in the process of connecting with more professionals through LinkedIn. My goal is to finish conducting interviews by the beginning of October.
