"An Investment in Knowledge Pays the Best Interest" - Benjamin Franklin

This past week in ISM, I had my first two interviews with cybersecurity professionals. During my first interview, we discussed the differences between external and internal threats and how the prevention approaches differ for these scenarios, ransomware, the dark web, and how the internet of things impacts cybersecurity. I learned a lot of key information especially with the different technologies and prevention and detection steps that companies take. In my second interview, we expanded on those topics and also talked about the usability component in cyber, enterprise cybersecurity, and risk management. I never considered taking an enterprise approach for cybersecurity, but it makes sense as cybersecurity applies to all businesses and all the employees of the business regardless of their department. It is important to ensure that every employee is trained and follow the set protocols to protect the security of the customer and the reputation of the business.

I also completed my topic proposal and expressed my desire to study cybersecurity this year. I also touched on how my interest in cybersecurity combines my interests in technology and computer science with business.

Lastly, this upcoming week, I have my third interview and am in the process of connecting with more professionals and conducting more research interviews. I am very excited to continue conducting these research interviews, find a mentor, and start working on my Original Work.
