Diving into Original Work

05 October 2020

This past week in ISM, I had my third interview with a professional. This interview was really fascinating to me, because I learned more about the intersection of cybersecurity and experience design. It was interesting to see how the usability aspect is always included to produce good security solutions, and how important it is to educate others and provide these innovations to protect their privacy. I also learned a lot of specific cybersecurity techniques such as penetration testing and vulnerability scans and how the two techniques differ.

In addition, I also completed my original work proposal. For my original work, I will create a research paper and simulate key cyber threats such as phishing attacks. My original work is crucial in that it will help lay the technical foundation that I will need to complete my final product second semester. I am excited to begin my original work, and I am excited to start expanding my technical skill set.

I also learned about and demonstrated key skills such as communication, hard work, and innovation. I will continue to improve on these skills throughout the course of my journey this year. This coming week, I will expand my professional knowledge at the business symposium and start working on confirming a mentor. I hope to have a confirmed mentor by the end of this month.
