Going In the Right Direction

29 March 2021

This past week in ISM, I continued to work on my final product by having a mentor visit to discuss how to improve my product thus far and how to approach the next stages of my product. Prior to our visit I briefly looked at articles covering incident response and tried to compare that to my product to understand how I can create an accurate incident response.

During our mentor visit, I mentioned that I struggled with being effective with my TOR research and my mentor suggested that it was important for me to focus on other aspects of my product as TOR requires a deeper understanding of cyber. We also discussed the artificial intelligence research that I had conducted so far, and in terms of which tasks to delegate to humans and which tasks should be automated by mentor discussed that artificial intelligence is useful to identify patterns and intelligence but humans are required to analyze that intelligence and take action. We also discussed approaches to take in terms of my write-up and incident response and my mentor mentioned that I should first look at how the DNC handled this attack and then formulate my own for comparison.

Overall, this week was successful as I was able to meet with my mentor after a while and this meeting helped to answer my questions and point me in the right direction in terms of my product. I now know what approach to take in terms of creating my write-up and researching the response. I learned a lot about communication, research, and dedication.
