Researching ransomware

08 November 2020

This past week in ISM I continued my original work research by analyzing phishing attacks and how these attacks have evolved overtime. I learned that hackers have gotten a lot smarter at enduring users have challenges in identifying these attacks and that constant sharing and access to files puts these systems at risk. I took notes over an article I found to further understand how these attacks work.

I also researched ransomware to understand what this attack looks like and the implications of these attacks. I learned that ransomware is extremely dangerous as it supplies the hacker with both your data and money. With these attacks, I proposed encrypting the files upfront and using technologies such as artificial intelligence to keep up with these attacks.

Overall, I continued to demonstrate my curiosity and interest in the field of cybersecurity by completing components of my original work. I will finish up research and then move on to the next component which is simulations
