“Professionalism is knowing how to do it, when to do it, and doing it” - Frank Tyger

This past week in ISM, I participated in the annual FISD Business Symposium. Although this event was virtual and much shorter than last year, completing three interviews helped me practice my interview and professional skills and get real-time feedback. I also learned about the important skills that professionals need to have such as listening, adaptability, and problem-solving. I will continue to work on these skills and will take the feedback I received in my resume and implement it to make improvements.

I also wrote my first interview assessment and reflected back on what I learned from that interview. I have begun my research on my original work, and started to research examples and the basic structure of conducting a cybersecurity simulation to understand what elements I need to include within my own simulations. Through my research, I understood the importance of testing with users and creating scenarios, which is similar to the user testing that I conducted last year.

In terms of interviews and finalizing my mentor, I plan to start the process of asking professionals to be my mentor this week. I am excited to begin this process and will continue to enhance my professional skills and knowledge on cybersecurity. This upcoming week I will continue my original work research by researching phishing attacks and understanding how they are conducted and what are the implications they impose.
