During the busy Christmas period Free radio's newly born charity, Cash For Kids, kicked off their Mission Christmas of donating toys to underprivileged children in the West Midlands.
Working at Birmingham's office for the second year of the charity's launch, the team for the production was small. The team was built of Tom, the fundraising executive, another intern Emma and myself.
During the 8 week project, 6 weeks were positioned in the Birmingham office to plan the pre-production. This included:
-Telephoning/emailing charities, volunteers, bursaries, councils, and companies.
- Planning social media/scheduling social media posts
- Organising excel sheets and maintaining a structure
- Pre-planning the volunteer days
- Sending of press packs and creating information sheets
The two weeks before Christmas were the busiest of the production period. With days where up to 30 volunteers would come to the unit in Merry Hill, to organise and send presents to children charities. We managed to help over 7000 children within West Midlands.
-I would manage the volunteers
- Organise collection dates
- Conduct interviews
- Record and edit interviews
- Control social media
