In Finland, the country of origin, the breed is upheld as a national treasure.

The KBD is bold and corageous, is brave and has quick reflexes. When hunting (even playing) does it in hard and, sometimes, agressive manner.

Got it’s name for beeing a strong Viking ally during Hunting and for offering extra protection agaisnt bears.

It is believed that it’s origin is Komi or Zyrian. The Official Breeding only began in 1936 with the purpose of obtaining a resistent dog with a strong bark, nevertheless the Standard was only recognized in 1945 and the first puppies registered in 1946.

It is one of the more rare and primitive Breeds in the World!
