Over the last years we have researched all that we could about KBD. There are some subjects, Pleasant and not Pleasant, Some truths and some lies, giving this breed a wrong conotation.
ARE THE KBD A SLED DOG?
- No - Despite being a nordic dog the Karelian Bear Dog is not a sled dog per se. It is able to do so, but it is difficult for it to do so because of its predatory instincts.
ARE THE KARELIAN BEAR DOG BAD AROUND FAMILY AND SPECIALLY CHILDREN?
- N - Despite being independent, They are sweet and kind. If somebody says they are bad with children is a lie. Can be reserved with outsiders, but within their family they are gentle and protective. Because they are primitive dogs, can play how they can, thoughly, so they might play roughly with children, but that doesn’t mean they intended harm. That is why they shouldn’t be left alone with children.
KARELIAN BEAR DOGS ARE LIMITED?
- No - KBDs are extremely smart, which can make them choose what to do. So it is imperative that it’s trainer has the ability to do whatever it needs to be trained, but NEVER using violence.
KARELIAN BER DOG IS EXTREMELY SOCIABLE?
- No - Generally it take a good sociabilization on the pups to be not so reserved. Their “fluffyness” doesn’t match their temperament, so don’t touch without asking permission first!
