Between 1971 and 1990, the steelworks of Sisak, Croatia, operated a series of ‘artists’ colonies,’ in which formally-trained artists from across the former Yugoslavia were invited for residency periods at the steelworks, where they would enlist the expertise of the Sisak steelworkers and often collaborate with them on public, steel artworks, which would be displayed in the town of Sisak.
