Working with tools and machinery can be very dangerous, so our team takes heavy precautions to promote safety and prevent accidents in our facilities at all times. For more information, contact the Safety Lead.
Goggles
Goggles are mandatory at all FIRST events as well as team events. You are not permitted to enter any pit or field without goggles.
Hearing Protection
Hearing protection such as noise cancelling headphones must be used when handing loud power tools for your protection. Don't take any risks.
Tools
Check tools prior to usage to ensure that they are working. Know what they are and how to use them. If a tool isn't working, discard it. Make sure tools are safely stowed away when not in use. If you have any questions, ask a lead.
Shoes
Closed toed shoes must be worn within the working environment at all times as well as at FIRST events. This includes all onsite and offsite activities.
Batteries
Batteries must be stored in a safe place. If a battery is dropped and the acids leaks out, retrieve the battery spill kit and follow the battery spill kit procedure.
Soldering
Use lead-free solders with electrically heated soldering irons only. Wear face protection at all times and keep fumes away by working in well-vented areas. Work on a fire resistant surface.
