I have been going to a standard learning school most of my life. Last year I went to Durango High School, at that school I had a very hard time when it came to the size of the school and the academics. I had a really hard time in school last year, when it came to the projects and worksheets I did really well, but when its came to the tests and quizzes I struggled to answer a lot of the questions because my nerves and the way that I think and learn got in the way of getting the questions right. I had some friends that went to AHS and they explained that Animas High School was a project based learning school. At first, I didn’t know what that was, and after I learned more, I thought that AHS might be the school for me. On my shadow day I got a chance to follow one of my close friends to his classes and see how the school worked. My mind was blown. I was so intrigued at how engaged all of the students were in their classes. The kids at AHS were so different than the kids at DHS. The second I got there I already had two kids come up to me and ask what my name was and tell me theirs. Every single kid at animas knows who they are and are completely themselves, that is one thing that I love about AHS because no matter who you are or what you dress like the people don't judge. Animas High School is the best school I have ever gone to, I am really happy that I made the switch and I think that animals will help me stay engaged in school and be successful as I head into adulthood.
