Good morning, it’s just about the start of the autumn scramble… the colored leaf shuffle… but first , today I wanted to sit with my very first pumpkin spice latte and shared some thoughts and words that came to me in the night:
“There's always far more going on that you've yet to see, Mizzy. Even now. So if you should ever feel bored or lonely again, look a little closer. Where's Waldo?”
Bored, what is that? Ahhh but to see the unseen, quite the dilemma. I’m looking forward to looking closer this month, closer to the Great Salt lake, the Wasatch Mountains and my new favorite San Juan mountains.. particularly the area around Telluride and Ridgway Colorado. I’ve been packing slowly for the last few weeks, anticipating the color and looking forward to a nice break from the band and record which has been consuming me for almost 2 years. It’s a nice balancing act, my dance between music and the natural world. They fill different reservoirs. Each needed for me to stay alive. Today I’m closer to an app-less world. Closer to my dreams. Closer to unraveling the mystery of the frame. Closer to the hills. It’s a celebration this Friday, on the verge of some exploration and adventure to gather gold nuggets. I’ve been building a secret vault and a few shelves are whipped clean and ready for some new memories… new images… new prints.

Image Info:
I arrived to this spot in the San Juan Mountain just outside of ridgway in the dusty darkness, anticipating the sunrise as I thought it might flood the valley floor and do some magic unknown things.. it was a cloudless event that left me with about 100 or so of lack luster images which just seemed boring and uninteresting although I tried to pull a rabbit out of my hat.. it's one of those moments that I'm just super happy I was present for regardless of and trophies I took with me.. the memory was the trophy I suppose.. I did like this image of the early morning light as it first struck the hillside behind this Colorado meeting of grazzing field and quaking tree. It's what it is.
