It has been a while but a lot has happened in the past couple of weeks. The Independent Study and Mentorship Research Showcase is taking place next week on January 18 at the Cowboys Headquarters and I have been preparing for the showcase like crazy. I invested my entire winter break in my original work. I spent several days analyzing journals on the experiments done in relation to Mars. It was definitely challenging but I learned a lot. After I obtained all my research, I formulated a paper that went over all the experiments: the significance, the problems, and future missions that will help us get a better understanding of the red planet. After a week of writing the paper, I finally finished. The report came to be thirteen pages front and back. Yes, it was frustrating at times but I was grateful that I was doing it now. If I want to be an astrobiologist, I've to be prepared to write long papers on a regular basis. With that said, I am so happy I am getting a feel for that now. Once I finished my original work, I started working on my display board. I want my display board to look awesome and professional so I spent the entire time doing that. However, my wonderful parents stayed up with me to make my vision true. I am currently putting final touches on the board and it should be ready by the end of the week. I am so excited for research showcase. I can't wait to discuss the amazing things I have learned from ISM and possibly inspire others. With the first semester coming to a close soon, I have to say it was amazing with ISM.
