Why Portico?





στοα is read in English as "stoa". which in ancient Greek means "porch". The root of this word is steh (meaning “to stand”), where we also derive the word στῦλος (stûlos, meaning “column or pillar”) στοα is where we get the word "Stoic" because great teachers would stand under columned porches to deliver their lessons. And it's where followers of those teachers would meet regularly to share their learning. στοα was translated into the latin word for porch, Portico.
