My name is Sabrina, and I cry during movies. Frequently.
I have found throughout the course of my life that my brain seems to be particularly hardwired for empathy. I feel very deeply, connecting best to people & things through emotion.
Empathy is a wild, untamable quality that I have been trying my whole life to harness.
This is where my art comes in.
I am an illustrator and visual storyteller from Grand Rapids, Michigan.
I am absolutely enamored by the ability of art and illustration to convey stories in a way that no other media can. Weaving tales through art gives human beings the extraordinary power to manipulate emotion and evoke empathy. My goal as a visual storyteller is to harness this power, couple it with my empathy, and use it for good.
I am a habitual wanderer and a big dreamer, an unapologetic optimist and an idealist. I prefer to see the world as it could be, rather than despair over the way that it is. I passionately believe that a healthy amount of hope and optimism gives life the sugar and spice we need, not only to survive, but to thrive. My art profoundly reflects these values, as every story I create, no matter how bright or how dismal, has a thread of hope woven into it.
I love being surrounded by plants, blankets, and sunlight. I use my hands a lot when I talk. I’m not particularly fond of mustard or mayonnaise, or the gross transition season between fall and winter (this is a midwest thing, for those unfamiliar). If you can’t find me, and there is a beach anywhere within a 30-mile radius, I would suggest you check there first.
