GETting ready

After a month into the school year, I have begun developing a resume to prepare for when I contact professionals. When creating a resume, I learned it is important for me to make sure my resume is kept neat, organized, and appealing since professionals will be viewing it to see my credibility and experience. I also understand that not every job or experience needs to be included in my Resume. The experiences and jobs mentioned should be related to the role I want.

I was also able to learn about how to dress professionally for when I go to interview architects. It's important to dress properly when meeting with professionals since how I dress and act will help them determine my character. I realized that wearing proper attire will also give professionals the idea that I am serious and dedicated to what I am doing. Having a better understanding and idea on what to wear when meeting with a professional will also help me in the future when going to job interviews.

Furthermore, I learned how to connect with professionals through LinkedIn, Email, and call, but I will probably mainly use LinkedIn and email to contact professionals. It may be difficult to find commercial architects in Frisco since Frisco is a suburban area, which mainly contains residential architects, but I won’t know unless I try. I have hope that I will find someone close by, and if I do not find any architects close to me then that is fine too.

My main goal for this week is to contact at least three professionals before the end of the week. Connecting with professionals will be my first major step to my ISM journey. I plan to use LinkedIn first before contacting anyone through email. If I am not able to contact anyone through LinkedIn, I will have to do research on architects that I can interview and email them, but hopefully I won’t have to resort to email as I hope to connect with professionals through LinkedIn.
