Sacramento Sports Association

Sacramento is the capital of the US state of California. This city of Sacramento came about as a result of the arrival of the Spanish in the area. This was as a result of the California Gold rush in 1848 when gold was discovered in the Sutter’s mill in the city of Coloma. The state of California began to receive more and more people so as the surrounding areas of Sacramento. The city was originally planned to be named Sutterville after the Sutters but was named Sacramento after the Sacramento River.

The responsibility of colonizing the Sacramento-Valley area was granted to John Sutter a Swiss-born citizen of Mexico by Juan Batista Alvarado, the Mexican Governor of Alta California. The city became the capitalof California under the Mexica Rule.

In 1900, automobile was introduced to the city and very few of the city’s population had automobiles. As time went by, more and Kore automobile companies began to come onto the city and thereby increasing the rate of automotive users. In this period other areas of the transport industries experienced growth.

The city was also part of the places affected by the Second World War that resulted to the great depression. This period, the city experienced a high level of unemployment and poverty.
