"Finnish Etias is a fast-paced thriller set in post-World War II Finland that follows the trials and tribulations of a group of young men trying to make it in this turbulent, yet relatively secure, environment. While Finland as a country may not seem to be an ideal place to learn martial arts, the story of Etias, his friends, and the nation's tumultuous instances are made more interesting with the inclusion of the unique tradition of Finland.
"Why is this book so great is the author, Esi Jaakko Esi. While I'm not a lot of martial arts enthusiast, I have read a lot of fiction and I truly enjoy reading books using a martial arts theme. A little bit about myself; I started training when I was twelve years old because it appeared a lot of fun. I had never believed that martial arts would be popular in the United States, however over time, I understood that a fantastic many men and women are beginning to get to them due to the movie "Rocky Balboa"The Karate Kid".
The publication begins with Etias being asked by a friend if he'd teach a course. He states he can do this and is quite excited. One day, he meets with his friend Mika (who becomes the mother figure to among Etias' buddies ), who's also interested in studying martial arts. After seeing her in action, Etias decides to help her learn martial arts for a teacher. They visit train for 2 weeks with a teacher, who is a well-known pro.
Throughout their training, Mika gets in touch with her past boyfriend, Tom, that claims he's dying from cancer.Mika informs Etias she knows he could save him in doing so, they become friends. But the next daythey find out that Tom has expired and they find that Tom was actually working as an assassin.Tom is dead and they discover that Tom is now a wanted man, because the assassin who murdered him remains at large.
They must search for a means to catch the assassin before things get worse. When they finally catch him up, Etias and Mika have to work together to save the life of Tom's son, Tomiko. Though Tomiko may not know what he did, Mika is convinced that Tom is innocent. The book has quite a distinctive premise and storyline that draws you to it and makes you care about what happens to Etias and Mika.
I really don't think that many people who have not read a martial arts publication could enjoy this one just as much. As I did, and ended up reading it in 3 days.
