Book review
Bible & Breakfast: 31 mornings with Jesus

by Asheritah Ciuciu

Breakfast- the most important meal of the day, or so experts tell us. Studies have linked breakfast to good health, better memory and concentration, a daily energy boost, alertness, less chance of diabetes and apparently, even weight control.

But, even better... can you imagine your day if you started every morning with Jesus? Spending time with the Lord and in His Word can put everything into perspective. Or perhaps listening to an inspirational worship playlist, so you could experience peace, joy and hope rather than stress and discouragement.

But it's not that easy... I know, I know. There are so many demands.. too busy caring for others, preparing for work, or scrambling to organise school lunches to take time for breakfast and devotions.

Well, here's a quick way to start your day well: faith-filled, fresh and focused. I'm talking about 'Bible and Breakfast: 31 Mornings with Jesus.'

This devotional book by Asheritah Ciuciu combines healthy and quick breakfast recipe ideas with a daily devotion. "...it's meant to fit right into your busy life because Jesus wants to meet us in our mess."

"Sure, an Instagram-perfect picture of our bible with a steaming cup of coffee would be nice, but most days will find us opening our bibles next to a cold breakfast, half-finished homework, unpaid bills, and something sticky we have yet to investigate."

So... what will you find with this book?

Quick, simple & yummy Breakfast Recipes

First up.. the breakfast recipes. Now, I know you're going to say that you have no time to prepare breakfast in the mornings. But these recipes are very easy to prepare and many of them can be prepared beforehand. For example, how about Mason Jar Omelettes?

You can prepare most of the recipe and freeze. It's then a simple matter of defrosting the mason jars in the microwave, cracking in a couple of eggs. Screw on the lids and give them a good shake. Then, remove the lids and microwave each for another 2-3 minutes. Stir and add extra cheese and toppings as required.

Another simple idea is the Freezer Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Pancakes recipe. Many of the recipe options are freezer-friendly. There are gluten-free options too and, of course, kids-friendly ideas.

All of the options are healthy, yummy and quick to make: Sunshine Waffles, Double Chocolate Banana Muffins, Chocolate Energy Bites, Quinoa Breakfast Bowls, Make-ahead Breakfast Burritos and many more.

But this is more than just a fun recipe book for breakfasts.
It also provides spiritual snacks and feasts for busy women.

Here's how it works:

2 Types of Devotions

Each day, you have the choice of either a snack on the go when you're in a hurry, a small morsel of Scripture to consume quickly and meditate on all day. Or.. you can choose a feast when you can linger longer at the table with God's Word.

Actually, I do both. My mornings are busy so I read the Snack on the Go and take a few notes. In the evenings, I take some time to linger longer at the Feast. Then I use both in my evening journal. The verse and small notes from the Snack I use in my art journaling. The other notes I take, when studying the longer Feast study, I use for the daily journaling segment of my journal.
