After a week of a little disappointment, I am happy to say that I am back on my feet again! This past week, I found out that I was accepted into the NASA's High School Aerospace Scholars Program. Getting into this program means so much to me because I will be gaining important skill sets, knowledge, and most of all, experience. This is also my first time to participate in a NASA Program. I am so happy that I will be doing some great work given by NASA. Additionally, if I do an excellent job on the online work that NASA has given then I will be able to go to the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX to work alongside prominent scientists and engineers. I am so happy that I got an opportunity like this. I would especially like to thank Mr. John Harkins because he is the one that told me about this program. As an engineer from NASA, he identified the passion that I had for this field and encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone and try new things. As a result of that, I am getting a direct chance to work with NASA. I couldn't be happier. I would also like to that Mr. Wysong, my ISM friends, and my family because they all believed in me and supported me through this process.I have already started working on the projects that NASA sent and I have to tell you that I've learned so much stuff about the science behind their missions. It is pretty mind blowing. I know by getting into this program, I am one step closer to achieving my dream. Apart from this, last Friday, I sent my mentor request to a scientist at NASA. I know that she is extremely busy but I really hope she says yes. It would be the most life changing experience if she becomes my mentor. Everyday, I am coming closer and closer to achieving my lifelong goal.
