This weekend was just like any other weekend. I was at the movies and then I saw the poster and the trailer for Hidden Figures. After that, I felt rejuvenated as if I found a bigger purpose in what I was doing. I was especially proud that I am young women who is going to go into the STEM field just like these three women did when they joined NASA. I was also extremely inspired by how these women overcame racial and gender limitations and managed to change the entire world, including the fate of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. On that note, I am very happy to say that I have decided on my mentor for ISM. I know she will be one of my biggest role model/inspiration for me. When I first met her, she told me all the obstacles she faced because she was a women but she also told me how she went past that and made a difference in the scientific community. When she told me this, I was really inspired and I knew then she would be the ideal mentor for me. The field that I chose is generally very competitive and is even more competitive for women. However, this will not stop because I am going to take it as an opportunity for me to show the world what I can do. There were very few who believed in those three women back then but they still managed to change the world. In contrast, I have so many people who believe that I could achieve my goal of one day working for NASA. This is enough for me to change the world. However, I need to start working hard if I ever plan on making any big breakthrough in space exploration. With that said, I am in my final stages of perfecting my website so everyone in the world will understand who I am and why I love astronomy so much. With my mentor picked out, I am not only entering a new phase of ISM but I am also entering a new phase of my life. I hope to be the women that young girls look up to . I am ready to change the world just like those women at NASA did.
