2. I have a resurrected Saviour who loves me, gave his life for me, and will bring me to everlasting life.

Key points

I am by nature a sinful, dying creature. The Lord Jesus Christ was God’s Son, but also the son of Mary. He battled the same ‘flesh and blood’ nature as I do. He never gave in to sin in his life, and having died on the cross, God raised him from the dead. In baptism, by full immersion in water, I have died and risen with him, uniting myself with his victory over sin and death. Now God sees me as newly living, part of him, and forgives my sin. If I continue faithfully trusting Him, God has promised to transform my body like Jesus is now - beyond sin and death, able to praise God by doing His will, perfectly, for ever.

A resurrected Saviour

Acts 5:30,31

The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. 31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Jesus gave his life for me: I live for him

Galatians 2:20

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Jesus will bring me to eternal life

Philippians 1:6

…he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Jesus intercedes with God for me

Hebrews 7:25

...he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

So what?

My mind and heart is deceitful: I find it much easier to do wrong than right. In baptism I have died to sin and God has graciously forgiven my sin. Every day I must choose to live to righteousness, doing God’s will not my own, seeking God's forgiveness where I fail. The Lord Jesus is at work, interceding with God on my behalf.
