Essa Baird is an interdisciplinary artist whose primary focus is on abstract painting and sculpture. She works intuitively with processes and material portraying a rare interpretation of color, line, texture, and repetition that captivates. The juxtaposition of materials is at the center of her work; clay, canvas, and wood could appear as
the base for pigment, beads, and thread. Subtle and understated, Baird’s work does not rely on bold statements but leaves the viewer moved and changed upon reflection.
Baird has spent most of her life in rural upstate New
York on Lake George surrounded by the Adirondack Mountains. She earned her BFA in Sculpture and
Studio for Interrelated Media (SIM) from Massachusetts
College of Art and Design in Boston. She now resides in
Seattle, Washington where she is a member of Side
Rail Collective in the historic Georgetown district, and Founder of the online art gallery, Gallery Baird.
