I'm obsessed with Wonder Woman. Seriously. I watched the movie four times this past summer in theaters, dragging along any friend of mine that hadn't seen it yet because I wanted to watch it again and again and again.

There's this one part in the movie where Wonder Woman is conflicted about whether to throw a huge army tank on Dr. Poison or not. (Spoiler alert: Dr Poison is the villain in the movie and she created poisonous gas that would eventually lead to Wonder Woman's love interest passing away.)

You hold your breath, the music speeds up, Wonder Woman is angry and she wants vengeance.

Then, there's a pause. Wonder Woman takes a breath. Closes her eyes.

Memories of her love interest are reeling through her mind, talking about how he wishes they had more time and how he loves her. He leaves.

She remembers his words and in a moment of cinematic beauty, she throws the tanks away from Dr. Poison, and sets her sights on Ares, the guy who's saying the humans are horrible and deserve the pain and suffering they have and how they don't deserve Wonder Woman's goodness and compassion.

She walks towards him, and she says, "It's not about deserve. It's about what you believe. And I believe in love."

Imagine being that good. Imagine being so recklessly loving that you forgive, even if you've been hurt over and over again. Imagine being so bold in your beliefs.

Imagine being Dr. Poison, the tank about to dropped on you. Imagine thinking you deserve it. Imagine having the stain of countless mistakes, countless problems. Imagine thinking that you're so far past redemption that you would deserve that pain.

Maybe you feel like that already some days. Maybe you already think that what you've done is too far past forgiveness, that your cutting, your theft, your mistakes, your anger, your pride, you selfishness, is too far past redemption.

I encourage you to come to God anyways. He is recklessly loving. His mercy is overwhelming.

And you can experience it any day you need. The Mass will show it to you. Confession is available every Saturday at 4PM here at Holy Cross.

Come to the fountain. Trust in God's mercy. He is here. Rest. Eat of the body of the Lamb. Drink of the blood of Christ.

I'm praying for you all.

All for His glory,

Marie Benavides
