“A good process produces good results” - Nick Saban

This past week in ISM I worked on creating an affinity diagram and through this was able to include the various problems users face and support this through specific evidence such as quotes or stories that they mentioned. I also analyzed different patterns and connections that I found including documentation, communication, efficiency, the online check-in process, and the process of waiting in line. I listened to all of my interview recordings and went back through notes to get this information, and I was also able to interview another participant who mentioned interesting information about how it is easier to book a drivers test than it is to schedule an appointment and I also found similarities to what others mentioned.

I also had a mentor visit this past week and during this visit, we discussed my affinity diagram and ways to make inferences and problem statements. It was really interesting for me to learn more about user research and how I can include this as part of the process to enhance my understanding of my users and their problems. This week I will continue to work on listing out all of my inferences and patterns and creating problem statements and then sharing it with my mentor.

I learned a lot more about user research and specifically about making connections and analyzing patterns. These are crucial skills that I will develop as a designer and researcher and these skills can be applied in all aspects of my life. I also learned more about communication and planning with spacing out and conducting my interviews.
