Communication is key to leadership and success

This past week in ISM I learned a lot about UX Design through more professional connections via Linkedln and email and research assessments. I recently completed a research assessment about Data Visualization and Infographics and through this, I hope to integrate design and User Research into my final project. It was really interesting for me to be able to explore more within the design world and see the different roles with Data Scientists, Design experts, other Data Specialists.

I was also able to schedule another interview with a professional on October 17th after school, marking my second interview. I am excited to be able to conduct more interviews as well as research through some connections I made at the UT Dallas Design Lab. Building networks and conducting research here will allow me to learn more about User Research and work with professionals and students who conduct similar research in the field.

Over the past couple of weeks, I have learned a lot about learning to manage my time wisely in regards to following up with professionals. Through my current experience, I am now able to contact individuals and have the ability to maintain those connections by keeping in touch. Another big part of this journey is how I can hold myself responsible for completing assignments and outside research. I have learned a lot more about communication with potential mentors, parents, Coach Goff, and my schedule to determine the best interview time. I also was able to be professional in rescheduling an interview, and I understand professionalism, communication, and patience a lot better than I did before. This past week in ISM, I developed greater personal skills and research knowledge.
