From Small Beginnings to Bigger Things

16 September 2019

This past week in ISM I wrote my second research assessment over Artificial Intelligence and UX Design integration. I learned a lot about how Data Scientists and UX Designers can easily collaborate to better design and implement their data projects. I thought that was really interesting and I was really excited to learn about integration within the Computer Science field. Along with my research assessment, I also contacted several different professionals and luckily got a couple of responses back. This is really exciting, as I had two phone calls with professionals and have one interview scheduled for the thirtieth of September and three more interviews that are in the process of being confirmed in regards to the date and time. I am really excited to be able to continue to meet and network with professionals and to learn more about their role as a UX Designer and the different projects they work on.

Over this past week, I learned a lot about the idea of professionalism and how important it is to accurately plan out and respond in a timely manner in terms of scheduling interviews. I was also able to reach out to people in different manners such as through email, phone calls, and Linkedln, and that experience has allowed me to connect to more people and gain more research interviews. After having phone calls with two professionals this past week, I learned how to better communicate my ideas and was able to map out exactly what I wanted to do within the field of design. For my research, I am thinking of possibly redesigning a project or creating my own website or other examples where I can incorporate usability tests and Data Visualization. This will help me to foster both the creative and technical aspects in terms of creating my own digital website or project.

I am really excited to continue to schedule and confirm more interviews with professionals and have the ability to contact many more to further develop my knowledge within the field. I cannot wait to continue to learn more and progress forward in my ISM journey this week.
