Head Start

24 February 2020

This past week in ISM, I worked on my User Research phase by beginning to organize and synthesize all of my raw data. I worked on reading an article over User Research and creating an excel spreadsheet with all of my participant data and notes listed out. From this, I also worked towards beginning to identify patterns and making observations such as the groups of users, types of visitors, repeat visits, documentation, and problems with staffing and DMV employees. I also had a mentor visit on Friday with Ms. Quach and we discussed a little bit more about user personas and creating problem statements. Before our next mentor visit, I will complete my user interviews and create problem statements to help identify different patterns.

I also worked on completing user interviews for two more individuals and from this, I learned of problems with documentation with how the DMV is extremely specific with required documents and how it can be hard to access that information I also learned about how finding documentation, especially for individuals on visas, can be complicated and it is not as clear for them to understand the information. These are interesting problems that I will further analyze this week by creating problem statements and working on affinity diagramming and identifying different themes.

This past week I learned a lot more about the user research process and how to analyze data. It was really exciting for me to learn to think analytically, make inferences, and be organized with my data. I will continue to make progress on my project and work towards the next phase of prototyping.
