The Adventure Begins

03 February 2020

This past week in ISM, I worked on the third and fourth monthly mentor assessment that I had with John Keese at projekt202. Within my mentor assessment, I mentioned a description of the User Research methods that we discussed such as Contextual Inquiries, Journey and Experience Maps, Affinity Diagramming, Spectral Analysis, and the process of data collection and then analyzing that specific data. During this mentor visit, Mr.Keese also helped me make a plan for my User Research and Prototyping step and we decided that at our next mentor visit we can go over identifying problems and basic prototyping methods.

I also began my process of User Research by going to the DMV Friday morning and interviewing a few people by using the research questions and guidelines that I created. Prior to this, I shared this with my mentor and got beneficial feedback. I also talked to the DMV employees and realized that I need to get permission from DPS specific officials before being given clearance to talk to and get information from employees. I also interviewed some of my friends, and overall these interviews were beneficial in allowing me to understand the different stories and experiences that people had at the DMV.

Overall, throughout the week I demonstrated utilizing empathy, immersion, and communication skills in how I started the first part of my final product. I am really excited to dive deeper into my project and learn more about Experience Design.
