The Next Chapter

27 January 2020

This past week in ISM I worked on planning out my interviews and User Research phase, by creating a set of research goals and questions. These questions include questions that gather user background and specifics in regards to my topic. My main objective in terms of my questions and research goals is to gather information about the user’s relationship to the DMV, including their expectations and previous experiences in terms of being able to satisfy their need. My main research goals revolve around understanding the user’s perspective and pain point, especially with identifying the problem I want to solve for and coming up with viable solutions. In terms of the DMV, I also reached out to numerous individuals who worked at the DMV on Linkedin and also sent an email to the DMV. I received a response from them indicating that they were sending my email to higher-ups, however, I am currently waiting on a response. In order to combat this issue, I am planning to finish collecting all of my data by the end of the first full week in February, and then spend the next one to two weeks on synthesizing my data through journey maps, sentiment maps, personas, and affinity diagrams.

I also worked on my first mentor assessment I had with my mentor Ms. Quach and submitted that on Friday. On Monday, I had my second monthly mentor visit with Mr. Keese at projekt202 and we discussed User Research and the basis for collecting and synthesizing my data. Overall, this week in ISM I learned a lot about the technicality of User Research, communication, and organization with my planning.
