Well, I'm back from a 2 week adventure which took me through northern Utah and the western side of Colorado. I tried my best to stay away from places I've photographed in the past. I was hell bent on the idea of exploring some new dirt roads, hillsides and bodies of water. Looking with new eyes and dusty lenses. There is nothing quite like the open road... well... some storm clouds on the open road would have been nice, but oh well... it did rain the day I left. (Ugg) And so I dug deep... under mostly blue skies and thick western haze for what seemed like forever. In the path of smoke and ash I traveled in the brush and moved with the shadows the best I could. I had one image on my mind for the whole trip, a curved leaf ridden dirt road in Telluride which had escaped me the past 2 years. The kind of road that looks more like a walkway to the secret troll gardens of asmideth... rather than an earthly road in Colorado. I did find the road by accident, thanks to my wandering eyes did appear, as I ascended the "famous" and unkept dollar road for the last time. Seems it was always under my nose after all... just a little left so to speak. Untouched and perfect. However that is a tale for another time. Here is a little scene from my wanderings on the Alpine Loop in Utah, near Sundance. I was early to the aspen shift, but I did survey the land and take notes for future travels. It's nice to see some some new forests. Don't you think. - Me still
Image Info: It was about an hour from sunset... heading down the backside of the Alpine Loop in the Wasatch mountain range of Utah I noticed that I was soon engulfed in the shadow of Mr. Timpanogos himself... and so I turned around and headed back from whence I came crossing into the shadow line and up into the sun again... passing this wonderful groove of aspens as the late light spilled into the forest. It was a moment I liked and tried to capture for about an hour or so till the sun silently slipped below the ledge and the forest grew dark, cold and quiet. I have several sun flares as I inched my camera ever so slightly left to right for the desired effect,,, and for options of course. This was the first one I grabbed today.
